Exterior design
The new C 43 4MATIC 2022 from Mercedes-AMG is an example of efficient performance. It is available in both the C-Class Sedan and C-Class Estate, offering a perfect balance between sportiness and practicality. This sporty character is evident from the outset with a 100% AMG exterior design where every element has been perfected to enhance the vehicle's aesthetics and functionality.
Thus, the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC 2022 features a specific radiator grille, a front apron with flics, sporty air intakes and a chrome trim element that is accompanied by matching side trims, a rear apron in diffuser effect and the two round trims of the dual tailpipes. As standard, the C 43 4MATIC is available with 18" AMG light-alloy wheels, which can be optionally replaced by 19" and 20" wheels.
AMG interior
The interior of the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC 2022 features numerous elements that accentuate its sporty ambience. Specifically designed AMG seats upholstered in ARTICO leather imitation/microfiber MICROCUT black with red contrast stitching and matching belts act as a welcome letter. It is accompanied by an AMG Performance nappa leather steering wheel with flat, perforated lower section and aluminum gearshift lever. It also integrates two round AMG buttons for controlling the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT driving program.
The dashboard and beltlines are covered in ARTICO leather simile with red stitching, along with AMG sport pedals, AMG floor mats and illuminated sill scuff plates with AMG lettering. Of course, the MBUX infotainment system is part of the standard equipment. It includes a number of specific displays and functions, with its own displays for the instrument cluster, the central display and the optional head-up display.
All this, without sacrificing the versatility of the C-Class. The sedan version still includes a trunk with a capacity of 455 liters, while the C-Class Estate reaches 490 liters, but can be expanded by folding the backrests of the rear seats up to 1,510 liters. Good interior roominess, spacious rear seats and high-end materials for a vehicle with a sporty spirit both outside and inside.
A new engine
Under the hood of the new Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC 2022 hides a new engine with important technological innovations aimed at improving its performance and efficiency. Mercedes AMG's M139I powerplant is a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder unit shared with the new Mercedes-AMG SL 43. In the C-Class 43 4MATIC, the engine develops an impressive 408 hp of power and 500 Nm of peak torque.
The engine integrates two important advances. The first is an electric turbocharger that improves gas flow and gives the engine greater performance. The second is a belt-driven alternator starter in conjunction with a 48-volt on-board network that also powers the electric turbo. This starter alternator offers a "boost" function that delivers 10 kW (14 hp) of additional power for a short period of time, facilitating overtaking and hard acceleration.
The new C 43 4MATIC is equipped as standard with a nine-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G automatic transmission and an AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. This mechanical combination enables fleeting accelerations from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds (4.7 seconds in the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC Estate), and an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. Thanks to the optional AMG Driver package, the top speed can be increased to 265 km/h.
Technology to improve performance
Mercedes-AMG has configured the new C 43 4MATIC to offer a high degree of dynamism, comfort and performance. The AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with adjustable adaptive damping is responsible for adjusting the vehicle's behavior based on three different diagrams for the shock absorbers: Comfort, Sport and Sport+. This is coupled with AMG parametric steering with three levels and the five AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive programs (Slippery Road, Comfort, Sport, Sport, Sport+ and Individual).
Special mention should be made of the rear-axle steering system, which is part of the standard equipment of the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC 2022. This equipment operates with a maximum wheel steering angle of 2.5°, which improves dynamic behavior and agility both on and off the racetrack.
To keep everything under control, an AMG sports brake system with powerful four-piston calipers on 370 mm discs (on the front axle). And for a high-level sound experience, an AMG exhaust system that adjusts the sound depending on the selected driving program. Occupants can optimize and customize the exhaust sound by choosing the optional AMG Real Performance Sound.
