The Mercedes Benz EQ Power family of plug-in hybrid models continues to grow. The offer is expanded with the addition of the new Mercedes C 300 e 2022, available as Sedan and Estate, and its innovative hybrid propulsion system with more than 100 kilometers of range in electric mode. The range of new Mercedes now has a new efficient version as a sign of the brand's commitment to the total electrification of its vehicle portfolio.
In total, the range of EQ Power plug-in hybrid vehicles consists of 13 different models, which in turn are divided into up to 19 versions including different body styles and variants of the hybrid propulsion systems. The Mercedes C-Class plug-in hybrid engine
The propulsion system of the new Mercedes C 300 e 2022 consists of a powerful 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine. This propellant develops 204 hp and a torque of 320 Nm, controlled by the nine-speed automatic transmission 9G-TRONIC. To this set must be added an electric motor with 95 kW / 129 hp of power and an impressive maximum torque of 440 Nm delivered instantly.
As a result of this combination the Mercedes C-Class hybrid has a maximum power output of 313 hp, reaching a torque of 550 Nm, figures typical of a large displacement turbodiesel engine. The new C 300 e 2022 can go from 0 to 100 km / h in just 6.1 seconds (6.2 seconds in the C 300 e Estate), with a top speed of 245 km / h (240 km / h). In addition, in 100% electric mode it can travel at speeds of up to 140 km/h (87 mph).
The electric motor is powered by a new 25.4 kWh lithium-ion battery located under the trunk floor. Its new configuration means that the luggage compartment is not particularly affected, particularly in the new Mercedes Benz C 300 e 2022 Estate. With five seats available, the trunk volume has increased by 45 liters compared to its predecessor, providing up to 360 liters of capacity.
In addition, the plug-in hybrid C-Class Estate remains just as practical as the versions with traditional combustion engines, offering up to 1,375 liters (40 liters more) when the rear seats are comfortably folded down.
Battery range and charging of the new C 300 e 2022
Mercedes Benz engineers have worked to configure an advanced, efficient and performance propulsion system. The new generation of batteries allows the 2022 Mercedes C 300 e-Class to become one of the Mercedes plug-in hybrids with 100 km of range. Specifically, the new C 300 e Sedan can travel between 99 and 111 kilometers between charges, while the C 300 e Estate is rated between 95 and 107 kilometers.
This has enabled the Mercedes C-Class hybrid to become one of the most efficient plug-in hybrids on the market, both in terms of range and in terms of fuel consumption and emissions. Specifically, the C-Class 300 e 2022 records an average consumption (WLTP) of only 0.8-0.6 l/100 km in either of its two body styles. Meanwhile, electric consumption stands at 24-.1-20.8 kWh/100 km. In terms ofCO2 emissions, the average is 17-13 g/km in the C-Class Sedan and 19-14 g/km in the Estate.
And when the battery runs out, the C-Class plug-in hybrid offers different charging combinations. In just 30 minutes you can reach 80% of the charge level using a 55 kW fast-charging point. On the other hand, the C 300 e 2022 has an energy regeneration system with various levels of retention and can take advantage of braking to recharge the battery. Even the gasoline engine can act as a generator to charge the battery in specific situations.
