The second generation of the Mercedes Citan, the versatile commercial and passenger van, was presented just a few months ago. The solutions already offered by the Citan are now joined by a new addition to the Mercedes Benz range, a vehicle designed for active families, outdoor enthusiasts and sports fans. The new Mercedes T-Class is a family minivan that offers the best of both worlds: the versatility and space of a van, with the quality and equipment of a Mercedes passenger car.
The new T-Class offers a different approach to the Citan. It is designed as a practical minivan built on the platform of one of our successful vans. Its exterior design offers a premium style in line with other new Mercedes models, with a high quality interior and good habitability. In addition, its standard equipment is more extensive than that of any other van, with a significant load of safety systems and driving assistance designed for you and your family can travel comfortably.
Exterior design
Polished and elegant surfaces, the new Mercedes T-Class is a high-end minivan with a bold design and a 100% Mercedes-Benz style. It features balanced proportions along with a chrome radiator grille, as well as body-colored elements such as the mirror housings, door handles and the front and rear bumpers.
The LED High Performance headlamps are striking in their visual appearance, giving way to a sculpted, upswept hood, a roof with longitudinal bars, sliding side doors that make it easy to get in and out of the New T-Class, and a rear with vertical lights and a large trunk lid that provides access to all the interior life.
The new T-Class is available with 16" and 17" wheels, and debuts the elegant rubellite red metallic exterior color. The Mercedes T-Class measures 4,498 mm in length, 1,859 mm in width and 1,811 mm in height. For the moment, the T-Class is offered only in five-seat version, but soon will join the range a variant with long wheelbase and up to seven seats inside.
Interior
The interior of the Mercedes T-Class is spacious and practical as the Mercedes Benz vans, but adds value extras with high-end finishes and full equipment. With five seats available, the new T-Class can equip up to 4 child seats, 3 of them in the second row. The sliding side doors offer 614 mm wide and 1,059 mm high opening space, while the loading edge of the trunk is located 561 mm high, which facilitates loading and unloading of large objects. In addition, the rear seats can be folded down, enhancing the capacity of the T-Class to new levels.
In front, T-Class passengers have the MBUX infotainment system with 7" touchscreen and smartphone integration at their disposal. In addition, a multifunction steering wheel with Touch Control buttons, air conditioning, KEYLESS Start, instrument panel with 5.5" color display, height-adjustable driver's seat, closed glove box, cargo space cover and pockets in the front seat backs are available. All interior lighting is LED and optional ambient lighting is available in up to eight color tones.
High-end materials such as black ARTICO leather simile, the modern NEOTEX fine structure of the electric Mercedes EQ models, nubuck leather and high-quality neoprene. The dashboard has a glossy black trim element and the entire interior space and cargo compartment are lined with carpeting.
Two lines of equipment
The new Mercedes T-Class is available in two different equipment lines. On the one hand, the Style line, which includes upholstery of the standard seats in ARTICO leather imitation / black MICROCUT microfiber with decorative stitching and glossy black center console. Chrome elements in the air vents, speakers and door handles, driver's seat with lumbar adjustment, rear folding tables, 16" wheels and tinted rear windows.
The Progressive line focuses on elegance and luxury equipment. Black ARTICO leather-look seats are accompanied by a NEOTEX-finish dashboard with contrasting stitching. There are matte silver trim elements, sliding doors with power windows, chrome trim on the trunk lid and 16" alloy wheels along with LED High Performance headlights, all standard.
Diesel and gasoline engines
The engine range of the new Mercedes T-Class is adapted to the needs of modern families. The offer includes four four-cylinder engines, two diesel and two gasoline. Among the versions with diesel engines are the T 160 d with 95 hp and 260 Nm of torque, and the T 180 d with 116 hp and 270 Nm of torque, both based on the 1.5-liter engine. The latter includes the Overpower and Overtorque functions, which boost power to 121 hp and torque to 295 Nm for a short period of time.
The range of gasoline engines comprises a 1.3-liter turbocharged engine developing 102 hp and 200 Nm of torque in the T 160 version, and 131 hp with 240 Nm of torque in the T 180 variant. All engines are combined with the ECO stop/start function and are available with a six-speed manual transmission. An effective seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is also available as an option (except for the T 160 T-Class).
As part of the "Ambition 2039" commitment, Mercedes Benz will launch a 100% electric version of the new T-Class. It will be called the Mercedes EQT (model still under development), and will be available with an efficient electric motor and a long range.
Technology, security and connectivity
The technology, safety systems and connectivity section of the Mercedes T-Class has been thoroughly worked to offer a complete family vehicle. Thus, the new T-Class offers advanced safety systems and driving assistance as:

The new T-Class is a connected vehicle thanks to the MBUX infotainment system. It includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, hands-free via Bluetooth connection and digital radio (DAB and DAB+). An optional navigation package with "Hey Mercedes" voice control is available, as well as all Mercedes me digital services.
