The new Mercedes GLC 2023 has finally been presented. The second generation of the successful Mercedes Benz SUV comes with important developments in areas such as exterior design, interior, dimensions, engines and technology. The best Mercedes GLC in history is already a reality, much more powerful, much more efficient, much more advanced.
The new GLC 2023 is mainly inspired by the Mercedes C-Class and its older siblings, such as the Mercedes S-Class, models from which it adopts many of its aesthetic, equipment and technical features. Thus, the new GLC becomes one of the main pillars on which the new generation of Mercedes Benz SUV models is built, evolved and more complete than ever.
Exterior design Mercedes GLC 2023
The exterior design of the Mercedes GLC 2023 is characterized by combining elegant elements with sporty touches, without forgetting the more adventurous and robust side of Mercedes Benz SUVs. It all starts with a front dominated by a completely new grille, where the Mercedes star is placed in a central position, attracting all eyes.
The LED headlights are now sharper and are in a higher position. And the bumpers, which depend on the selected equipment line, have a more pronounced finish(AVANTGARDE), with chrome elements and plastic protection; or sporty(AMG Line), with large air intakes that emphasize the character of the new generation.
From the side, the powerful and sophisticated design of the new GLC 2023 can be appreciated. Clean surfaces, defined wheel arches with specific protections (in body color in the AMG Line version), side sills that facilitate access and exit of the vehicle, chrome details on window frames and longitudinal bars on the roof (black in AMG Line) and a pronounced rear window.
Finally, the rear of the Mercedes GLC becomes more sophisticated and complete. A roof spoiler and a large trunk lid accompany a much wider and thinner LED lights. Underneath, bumpers with chrome moldings and trim, or with a sportier style thanks to a large black diffuser. The entire exterior is accompanied by wheels in sizes from 18" to 20".
The measurements of the Mercedes GLC 2023: 4,716 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width and 1,640 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,888 mm. The new GLC is 60 mm longer, 4 mm lower and has 15 mm longer wheelbase than its predecessor.
Mercedes GLC 2023 interior
The interior of the Mercedes GLC 2023 is a faithful reflection of the cabin of the new C-Class. Available with different configurations of multifunction steering wheel, at the controls you find a 12.3" fully digital information display and floating style, and to your right, located over most of the center console, an 11.9" touch screen in vertical arrangement that integrates all the advanced functions and connectivity solutions of the Mercedes MBUX infotainment system.
The luxurious and modern cabin of the new GLC 2023 is complemented by high-end materials, with chrome trim for the details, while the moldings are available in different finishes and colors to create a customized environment tailored to your needs. Seats are available in different upholstery options and modern door panels wrap around the instrument panel.
Thanks to the exterior measurements, the trunk of the Mercedes GLC 2023 increases its capacity by 70 liters to 620 liters. It has also increased the height to the roof, legroom, and width for elbows and shoulders. In short, the new GLC is now more luxurious and exclusive, while improving its habitability to offer a more spacious and comfortable interior for passengers.
Electrified engines
The engine range of the Mercedes GLC 2023 also goes up a level and integrates electrification as an essential part of its mechanics. The current launch range consists of three combustion engines with 48V hybrid systems, as well as three plug-in hybrid engines with high efficiency and electric range, as well as with the 0 Emissions environmental label of the DGT.
Among the gasoline engines is the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 204 hp and 320 Nm of torque (GLC 200), or with 258 hp and 400 Nm of torque (GLC 300). The diesel option available in the range is an efficient 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel with 197 hp and 440 Nm of torque (GLC 220 d). All combustion engines are available as standard with a nine-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.
Plug-in hybrid versions
Electrification plays a crucial role in the future plans of Mercedes Benz. For this reason, all our new models integrate plug-in hybrid technology within the range of engines. In the case of the new GLC 2023, the offer consists of three high-performance, long-range and fuel-efficient plug-in hybrid powertrains. These are the characteristics of each EQ Power plug-in hybrid version of the GLC (all equipped with 9G-TRONIC transmission and 4MATIC traction as standard):
- GLC 300 e: equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 204 hp and a 100 kW (136 hp) electric drive. The result is 313 hp of power and 550 Nm of combined torque, along with a 31.2 kWh battery for a range in electric mode of between 104 and 120 km on a single charge. Approved average fuel consumption is 0.6-0.8 l/100 km (0.6-0.8 l/100 km).
- GLC 400 e: 252 hp 2.0 turbo gasoline engine and a 100 kW (136 hp) electric motor. Combined power of 381 hp and 650 Nm of torque, along with an electric range of 104-120 km thanks to the 31.2 kWh battery. Its homologated average fuel consumption is between 0.6 and 0.8 l/100 km, with averageCO2 emissions of 14-19 g/km.
- GLC 300 of: this version has a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine with 197 hp and a 100 kW (136 hp) electric drive, powered by a 31.2 kWh battery. It has a combined power of 335 hp and 750 Nm, with a range in electric mode of between 102 and 117 km andCO2 emissions ranging from 13 to 17 g/km.
