The Opel Astra GSe is the new high-performance plug-in hybrid in the Astra range. With its own sporty styling, dedicated tuning and up to 225 hp of power, the Astra GSe is the first member of a newly created family of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles inspired by the Opel Manta GSe, with a spirit that evokes sportiness and maximum efficiency.
Opel's "GSe" label was traditionally an abbreviation for "Grand Sport Einspritzung" (Grand Sport Injection or GSi) present on several classic Opel models. Now, this acronym evolves to "Grand Sport electric", combining the values of driving fun with the option of locally emission-free mobility. Both the Astra GSe and the Opel Astra Sports Tourer GSe are the first models to debut this version in their range. Vehicles such as the Opel Corsa and Opel Mokka will be added to the range in the future.
Unique exterior design with dedicated sport seats
The new Opel Astra GSe 2023 debuts a bold and sporty design, with styling elements exclusive to this version. Such are the specific bumpers, with a large central air intake that frames the LED fog lights within a glossy black trim. The Astra's Opel Pixel LED IntelliLux headlamps are integrated as part of the distinctive Opel Vizor front end, lending presence and elegance to its design.
The Astra GSe's sporty styling continues at the rear, with a sporty bumper featuring gloss black trim to match the roof, pillars, rear spoiler and mirror housings. It also features the specific 'GSe' badge on the trunk door and debuts exclusive 18" light alloy wheels, inspired by the Manta GSe electric prototype.
The interior of the Opel Astra GSe features unique front sport seats with Alcantara upholstery. They offer AGR certification, ensuring above-average ergonomics in the compact class. The Opel Pure Panel with dual screen, touchscreen for the infotainment system and digital for the instrument panel, is also part of the standard equipment of the GSe version of the new Astra.
Opel Astra GSe, the most powerful and efficient Astra in the range
Exclusivity and performance come together in the powertrain of the new Opel Astra GSe. It is a high-performance, high-efficiency plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with an 81 kWh (110 hp) electric motor. It thus offers a maximum power output of 225 hp and a torque of 360 Nm, managed by an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
A 12.4 kWh lithium-ion battery powers the electric motor and offers a range in 100% electric mode of up to 60 kilometers between charges. In addition, the Astra GSe facilitates the daily use of an electrified car by including fast charging solutions and home charging adapted to your needs. It achieves an average fuel consumption (WLTP) of 1.2-1.1 l/100 km, withCO2 emissions of only 26-25 g/km.
Opel engineers have been responsible for optimizing the dynamic behavior of the Astra GSe and Astra Sports Tourer GSe to offer even more agility and precision in driving. Thus, the response of the steering, suspension and brakes has been improved, responding immediately and predictably to every intervention made by the driver.
Finally, the new Opel Astra GSe features a dedicated chassis, lowered 10 millimeters in height compared to the other versions in the range, which increases cornering and braking stability. The sporty steering calibration is specific to the GSe, while the oil-filled springs and dampers of the front and rear suspension are specifically tuned for sportiness and comfort. The electronic stability program (ESP) has also been tuned to achieve dynamic driving behavior.

Prices for the Opel Astra GSe have not yet been announced.
