The electrified range of the new Peugeot 308, consisting so far of the Peugeot 308 Hybrid, is joined by the new electric Peugeot e-308 available in two body versions. These new models are further proof of the brand's commitment to electric car technology, in addition to the all-electric Peugeot e-2008 and Peugeot e-208.
Peugeot will be the first European manufacturer to offer a 100% electric family car, the e-308 SW, a vehicle that combines the benefits of electric mobility with trunk capacity, on-board comfort and complete equipment. The new electric Peugeot 308 and 308 SW will be available from mid-2023 and will be available in two different trim levels: Allure and GT.
Design of Peugeot e-308 2023
The design of the Peugeot e-308 electric follows the same aesthetic patterns as the rest of the range. The sharp front end, with LED headlights and daytime running lights emulating the fangs of a lion, the large central grille and the sporty front bumper. Sleek, flowing lines, defined volumes, an elongated hood and a silhouette with great presence make the electric 308 a bold, youthful and high-quality compact.
The new e-308 2023 has a sculpted profile, with sharp lines and wide side windows. The e-308 SW integrates practical longitudinal roof rails, while from the rear the roof spoiler, LED taillights and sporty bumper with black trim are visible. New 18" aluminum wheels have been developed specifically for the electric versions of the 308, with aerodynamic efficiency helping to improve electric performance and range.
The interior of the Peugeot e-308 2023 perfectly integrates the latest generation of the Peugeot i-Cockpit. This cockpit is recognizable by its compact, heated steering wheel, the three-dimensional digital Head-Up Display and the central 10" touch screen for the infotainment system. This multimedia system includes the latest i-Connect Advanced connectivity technology and screens dedicated to the all-electric propulsion system of the new e-308 and e-308 SW.
Engine, battery and range of the electric Peugeot 308
Peugeot has developed a new propulsion system specifically for the new electric Peugeot 308. This system consists of an electric motor with 115 kW (156 hp) of power and 260 Nm of torque. The new motor drives the e-308 quietly, with no vibrations and noCO2 emissions. The motor is associated with a gearbox designed to optimize its range without sacrificing a high level of performance and responsiveness that characterizes Peugeot electric cars.
The Peugeot e-308's battery is also a new generation. It is a 54 kWh high voltage unit (51 kWh useful) with a new chemistry composed of 80% nickel, 10% manganese and 10% cobalt. The battery operates at 400 volts and allows a range of more than 400 kilometers according to the WLTP protocol.
Thanks to the great work done by Peugeot engineers in areas such as motor and battery performance, aerodynamic optimization, weight control on the EMP2 platform and friction reduction, the electric Peugeot 308 achieves a remarkably low energy consumption of just 12.7 kWh/100 km, making it a benchmark among 100% electric C-segment vehicles.
In the new e-308 you will have at your disposal three driving modes: ECO, Normal and Sport. You will be able to manage regenerative braking with the 'Brake' mode to optimize energy recovery when you release the accelerator and you will have several recharging possibilities. The on-board three-phase charger has an output of 11 kW, ideal for home charging. It also supports fast charges of 100 kW, going from 20% to 80% of the battery level in less than 25 minutes.
Price Peugeot e-308 and e-308 SW
Prices for the electric Peugeot e-308 and e-308 SW have not yet been announced. The new 100% electric compact is scheduled to hit the market from mid-2023.
