New Mercedes-Benz plug-in hybrids

Concesur and Fervial, official Mercedes-Benz dealers in Seville, organized yesterday, February 2, the "1st Mercedes-Benz City of Seville Solidarity Eco-Rally" on the occasion of the launch of the new range of Mercedes-Benz plug-in hybrid vehicles, which represents the tradition and vanguard of Mercedes-Benz on its way to emission-free mobility.

The participants enjoyed an efficient driving competition by teams that took place in the province of Seville in which, in addition to checking all the advantages that this type of vehicles provide in their daily use, they enjoyed a fun day and collaborated with a good cause since the winning team chose an NGO or charity organization to which Concesur and Fervial will donate the amount of 1,000 €.

Eco-Rally through the city of Seville

The test started at Fervial, official Mercedes-Benz dealer in Avda. Kansas City s/n, where the filling and sealing of the tanks took place as well as the delivery of the envelope with the first destination: the Parador de Carmona. In this way all the vehicles set off with a clear objective, to complete the 6 stages consuming the least amount of fuel possible.

Five vehicles took part in the test: a C-Class 350e Sedan, two C-Class 350e Estate, an S-Class 500e Long and a GLE 500e SUV 4MATIC. All with plug-in hybrid propulsion to combine the power and comfort of a gasoline engine with the consumption of a utility vehicle. These new plug-in Mercedes-Benz can travel up to 30 km in 100% electric mode thanks to a lithium-ion battery that can be recharged at a domestic socket in just three hours or automatically while driving.

Thus, these plug-in hybrid vehicles with combined power of up to 449hp (333 hp from the combustion engine plus 116 hp from the electric motor) passed through points such as the Castle of Alcalá de Guadaíra or the Plaza de España in Seville with average fuel consumption of 2'1-3'7 liters per 100 km and CO2 emissions of 48-84 grams per kilometer.

The finish line of the race was located at the Rocala restaurant, belonging to Grupo La Raza, where the chef Antonio Bort gave the participants a gastronomic workshop of organic food to end a sustainable day. While the attendees enjoyed the workshop, the organization proceeded to unseal the fuel tanks and fill them again to check the liters consumed by all the teams during the more than 120 kms of test.

The winning team chooses the NGO for the donation of 1.000€.

All the teams showed a competitiveness and dedication that matched the technology they were driving, although there was a clear winner: the bright blue C-Class 350e Estate, which completed the entire route with a fuel consumption of only 2.15 liters. A figure that exceeded all expectations, both of the organization and the participants, and incredible for a family car with 293 hp capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km / h in just 5.9 seconds and more than 4.5 meters long.

1,000 donation to the "Centro de Apoyo Infantil Esperanza de Triana" which currently provides support to more than 70 children with ADHD in the city.
