Land Rover Discovery Sport 2023, luxury and refinement in SUV format

The Land Rover Discovery Sport is updated with a major upgrade that includes an extra dose of luxury and refinement without sacrificing the characteristics of the SUV format. The new Land Rover Discovery Sport 2023 is already a reality, a new dimension of exclusivity, craftsmanship and technological development in a vehicle designed to maximize space and comfort on board.

Discovery Sport is synonymous with Land Rover. Versatile and with an interior with up to seven seats, the new Discovery Sport 2023 has been designed for family adventures that will now be supported by a renewed infotainment system, new comfort technologies, the latest in connectivity and a range of electrified engines with versions with ECO and ZERO Emissions environmental label.

New Land Rover Discovery Sport 2023

While not the primary focus of the Discovery Sport update, the exterior receives some subtle enhancements to maintain its innate appeal and elegance. The Discovery Sport S version, for example, receives body-color lower running boards, a new Gloss Black grille in contrast to the model's hexagon motif, Indus Silver scuff plates and Bright Atlas "Discovery" hood lettering.

Dynamic models now feature a contrasting roof and Gloss Black exterior accents, such as "Discovery" lettering, grille, side sills and lower bumpers. This color is also present on the front bumper clutches and wheel arches.

Completing the aesthetic improvements in the Land Rover Discovery Sport 2023 are the new designs of optional alloy wheels. The new 21" option in Gloss Black finish and another 19" in Gloss Black or Diamond Turned are some examples. The color palette has also been extended with the new shade Varesine Blue.

Interior

The interior of the new Land Rover Discovery Sport 2023 exudes luxury and quality. It is bright, spacious and airy, and offers "stadium-style" seating for optimal visibility in all three rows along with an optional panoramic glass roof for clarity and a greater sense of space.

New is the dark anodized aluminum-clad gearshift and the three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, available in Windsor leather or a textile with vegan materials. For Discovery Sport S and Dynamic SE models, the interior is offered in DuoLeather with up to three color options, while the leather option now includes a suede trim combined with luxurious Luxtec fabric made from recycled polyester microfiber.

The Discovery Sport's interior is available with up to seven seats and 24 possible configurations. The second row can be moved and reclined in a 40:20:40 configuration, providing 1,794 liters of trunk capacity with both rear rows folded down. In addition, there is an electric tailgate for the trunk that facilitates loading and unloading.

State-of-the-art technology

As part of the Discovery Sport's 2023 update, Land Rover has included a new Pivi Pro infotainment system that debuts a sleek 11.4" floating touchscreen with curved glass. This is part of the brand's latest generation of infotainment, which adds accessible sidebars with shortcuts to key vehicle controls and functions, such as multimedia, volume, climate and navigation.

The new Land Rover Discovery Sport 2023 debuts Amazon's Alexa voice artificial intelligence and Apple CarPlay wireless functionality. Android Auto is also offered as standard and is accompanied by a wireless charging dock for mobile devices located in the redesigned center console.

Two USB-C ports are also available in each row of seats offering full connectivity and full 12V charging, while the seven-seat version adds a dedicated climate control in the third row and another USB-C charging point.

Thanks to Land Rover's next-generation Pivi Pro infotainment system, the 2023 Discovery Sport incorporates one of the widest ranges of camera technology in its class. Highlights include the 3D Peripheral and ClearSight Ground View cameras that deliver images via the 11.4" touchscreen, as well as the ClearSight Rear View Mirror camera, which provides an unobstructed rear view.

Finally, the new Discovery Sport incorporates a new cabin air purification system. It features a PM2.5 filtration system and_CO2 control with nanoe X technology to keep cabin air clean and free of pathogens.

Electrified propulsion systems

The Land Rover Discovery Sport 2023 engine offering includes three different powertrains. The diesel engines include the efficient 48V Mild Hybrid technology that improves fuel consumption and allows to have the ECO environmental badge. On the other hand, the plug-in hybrid version maximizes its performance in electric mode, with a homologated average consumption of just 1.5-1.7 l/100 km.

The Discovery Sport D165 MHEV is powered by a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine with 48V Mild Hybrid technology and 163 hp. With an impeccable 380 Nm of torque, this version is equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission and is available with all-wheel drive as standard.

For its part, the D200 MHEV version of the Discovery Sport 2023 D200 MHEV raises the power of the 2.0-liter diesel engine to 204 hp with 430 Nm of torque. It also includes 48V Mild Hybrid technology, nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Average fuel consumption is 6.5-7.1 l/100 km (6.5-7.1 l/100 km).

The third mechanical option is the Discovery Sport P300e PHEV (only available in five-seat version). This model includes a 1.5-liter gasoline engine together with an 80 kW electric motor. The resulting power output is 309 hp with 540 Nm of torque that are managed by an eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system.

A 14.9 kWh lithium-ion battery supplies enough electric power to the Land Rover Discovery Sport plug-in hybrid to provide an electric range of up to 61 kilometers. It also offers fast charging as standard, allowing the battery to go from 0% to 80% of its level in just 30 minutes on a DC charge.
