New Corsa OPC: small but tough - Grupo Concesur

After the recent arrival of the fifth generation of the Corsa, Opel brings us another of its firsts at the Geneva International Motor Show, which will take place from 5 to 15 March in Switzerland. This is the new Opel Corsa OPC, the sportiest version of the small urban, which returns more stylish and powerful.

The changes that we perceive in its exterior appearance with respect to the more conventional versions are remarkable. The front end changes completely, receiving larger air intakes interspersed with aluminum-colored details. The profile of the vehicle becomes more muscular, with large wheel arches that house the 17″ inch wheels. While at the rear, the new spoiler and exhausts, the latter signed by the prestigious manufacturer Remus, stand out.

Inside the sportiest essence of Opel continues. We will enjoy driving wrapped in a Recaro bacquets high support, while we control the direction through a leather steering wheel with flattened bottom. The aluminum pedals, as well as the gear knob and instrumentation faithfully follow the OPC philosophy.
We move away from the aesthetic issues, focusing on those that affect the strong point of this vehicle: the dynamics. The heart that makes this Corsa beat is a 1.6 Turbo gasoline that reaches 207 hp of power and 245 nm of torque, a figure that can be increased to 280 nm with the Overboost function. With its 6-speed manual gearbox, it is able to climb from 0 to 100 km / h in just 6.8 seconds, and reach a top speed of 230 km / h.

To make the most of all its power, the Corsa OPC has an innovative FDS Sport Chassis, developed by Koni, the damping specialist, capable of adapting the damping force to the car's performance. In this way we obtain the perfect communion between performance and ride comfort. The ESP and traction control have various modes of action with which they will become more or less intrusive depending on the type of driving we want to do.
If you are one of those who always want more, and all this sportiness you know little, from Opel have thought of you developing the Performance package. This package adds to all the equipment of the Corsa OPC, a self-locking front differential signed by Drexler, 18-inch wheels with Michelin tires with higher performance, braking system signed by Brembo, and a more sporty chassis tuning.

"Our OPC models are at the forefront of dynamism in our model ranges. They reflect Opel's sporty tradition, representing technological capability, emotional design and sporty dynamism. The new Corsa OPC impressively demonstrates how high our engineers have set the bar in the small sports car segment. It shows exactly what you can do on a twisty mountain road and even on a racetrack. It's so much fun you won't want to get out of it. As is typical of OPC, it's pure passion," enthuses Opel Group President and CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann after completing the final tuning laps with the Corsa OPC at the Opel Test Center in Dudenhoffen.
