The Opel Grandland is the largest model in Opel's SUV range. A true benchmark among those seeking space and versatility, the Grandland is also a versatile vehicle that stands out for the efficiency of its plug-in hybrid versions. The new Opel Grandland 2024 goes a step further in the field of electrification with the release of an electric version with up to 700 kilometers of range.
The second generation of the German SUV debuts as a completely new model based on the STLA Medium platform, a platform that also premiered the new Peugeot e-3008. It bases its design on the Opel Experimental concept car and integrates important new features in all areas, including a new LED lighting system and an interior upholstered in fabric made from recycled materials.
New Opel Grandland 2024
The new Opel Grandland, which will be one of the main novelties of the brand presented this year along with the Opel Frontera, sports a modern and elegant design. The front is dominated by the new 3D Vizor concept, which integrates the new headlights with Intelli-Lux Pixel Matrix HD technology, a high-performance lighting system with more than 50,000 individual light elements that debuts in the second generation of Grandland.
The front gives way to a contrasting two-tone roof, a wide D-pillar and a side with defined lines and large wheel arches. The rear is notable for its new pilots, composed of a single group that runs across the width of the vehicle and integrates the name 'OPEL' backlit as a link between the optics. There is also a bumper with a diffuser and, at the top, a roof spoiler.
The new Grandland 2024 is equipped with up to 20" wheels and is longer, taller and wider than its predecessor, thus providing extra space and habitability in the cabin. These are its exterior measurements:
- Length: 4,650 mm
- Width: 1,905 mm
- Height: 1,660 mm
- Wheelbase: 2,784 mm
The interior
The interior of the new Opel Frontera 2024 has been conceived as a spacious and technological place. The cockpit gives access to a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel located immediately in front of a digital instrument panel from where the driver has access to all information related to the engine or propulsion system.
In the center of the elaborate dashboard is a 16" touchscreen slightly oriented towards the driver for the infotainment system. Both screens are complemented by the Intelli-HUD Head-Up Display, which prevents the need to take your eyes off the road and increases driving safety. In addition, Pure Mode reduces the content of the infotainment system, Head-Up Display and center display to avoid possible distractions.
The new ergonomic AGR seats are another feature of the Grandland 2024 interior. These seats include power bolsters that improve lateral comfort adjustment thanks to the two pneumatic pockets located in the side bolsters of the backrest. In addition, the seats also offer ventilation and massage function, and include the Intelli-Seat function, a groove that relieves pressure on the coccyx to ensure comfort even on long journeys.
Other features of the new Grandland's cabin include 20 mm of additional legroom in the second row of seats, the Pixel Box where the wireless charging point for mobile devices is integrated, more than 35 liters of interior storage compartments and 100% recycled fabric upholstery. In addition, the rear seats feature 40:20:40 folding backrests that create up to 1,641 liters of cargo space in the trunk.
Motorizations
Although they have not yet been officially announced, the powertrain offer of the new Opel Grandland 2024 will be composed of a range of electric propulsion systems where a flat battery pack of up to 98 kWh stands out, allowing the new Grandland Electric to travel up to 700 kilometers on a single charge. In addition, it includes fast charging that allows reaching 80% of its battery level in about 26 minutes.
These electric versions will not be the only options available in the engine range of the new Grandland. The offer will also include a long-range plug-in hybrid version in electric mode and the Opel Grandland Hybrid, with a 48-volt hybrid propulsion system that combines performance and efficiency with ease of use.
Another novelty in the mechanical section that debuts the new Grandland is the suspension with frequency-selective damping technology. This technology adapts to the situation, road surface conditions and driving style to offer maximum comfort and the best steering response, maximizing its dynamic behavior and emphasizing safe driving.
Technology and security
Finally, the technological area of the new Opel Grandland 2024 is starring the new Intelli-Lux Pixel Matrix HD lighting system with 51,200 light elements that achieve a high-definition light distribution. This lighting system is based on information captured by a camera and can cut out approaching objects offering a brighter and more homogeneous light pattern preventing other road users from being dazzled.
It also features an attractive range of driver assistance systems, including automatic cruise control with Stop & Go function, extended traffic sign recognition, intelligent speed adaptation and collision-sensing emergency braking system.
To these technologies must be added the Intelli-Drive 2.0 system, which integrates several electronic assistants and combines with the semi-automatic involuntary lane change assistant and the recommended speed adaptation to offer a semi-autonomous driving assistant that allows lane changes with small steering movements.
In addition to sensors, Intelli-Drive 2.0 uses information from the wireless network. It also makes parking maneuvers easy and convenient thanks to the parking lights at the front and rear, the rear view camera with automatic wiper function and the 360-degree Intelli-Vision camera.
Soon we will know all the details and technical characteristics of the new Opel Grandland 2024. Prices have not yet been announced, but in the coming months will take place its official debut and will be available, as always, in Automares, official Opel concession of Concesur Group.
