Peugeot 208 2023, a facelift with a new electric version

The Peugeot 208 is the ideal choice if you are looking for an urban, efficient and easy to drive car. The second generation was launched on the market in 2019 and has now undergone a major renovation that includes changes at the level of design, equipment and motorizations. The Peugeot 208 2023 brings with it a number of important new features.

For starters, it follows in the footsteps of the also renewed Peugeot 2008. The B-segment SUV was responsible for adopting a new design language that it shares with the Peugeot 508, as well as debuting technological innovations and an improved electric version with more power and autonomy.

The Peugeot 208 is the best-selling car in Europe in 2022, a real commercial success that is now renewed to return even stronger. The changes at the design level are mainly focused on the front end. The 2023 version of the 208 now features a new look that includes revamped headlights and triple daytime running lights integrated into a new signature bumper with a larger grille with a body-color pattern.

At the rear, the 208 now sports LED lights with three red claws juxtaposed in a horizontal arrangement. The Peugeot badges and emblems have also been updated and the electric e-208 version has received an "e" badge in two shades of blue and white.

Also new are the Agueda Yellow and Selenium Gray paints, which are added to a chromatic range consisting of seven body colors: Artense Gray, Black Pearl Nera, Banquise White, Elixir Red and Vertigo Blue, in addition to the new Agueda Yellow and Selenium Gray. Finally, the Peugeot 208 2023 receives new wheel designs inspired by the Peugeot 408, in sizes from 16" to 18".

An enhanced interior with Peugeot i-Cockpit

The interior of the Peugeot 208 2023 also integrates new features. The most important is the newly designed 10" digital display for the instrument panel. In the GT trim, it integrates 3D graphics, while the Active model retains an analog instrument panel with a 3.5" color screen.

On the other hand, the latest generation Peugeot i-Connect and Peugeot i-Connect Advanced infotainment systems are now offered as standard with a 10" central touch screen on all versions of the new 208. The Allure and GT models feature HD technology on the screen and retain the piano keys with shortcuts to different functions.

The heart of the interior of the 208 2023 remains the Peugeot i-Cockpit and its compact steering wheel with integrated controls. The GT version sports a specific logo on the bottom of the steering wheel and comes equipped as standard with a dynamic ambient lighting system with 8 different colors.

Completing the new features in the cabin of the 208 is a gear knob for the manual lever with a new, more ergonomic design and new fabrics for the seats. Black Alcantara upholstery with Adamite green stitching is now offered exclusively for the GT version as an option.

New electric version and two hybrids added to engine range

The engine offer of the Peugeot 208 2023 includes a 100% electric version that is renewed to offer more power and autonomy. Now shares its propulsion system with the Peugeot e-308, which means that debuts a new engine of 115 kW (156 hp) of power with 260 Nm of torque.

Also new is the 54 kWh lithium-ion battery, which allows the e-208 to be approved for up to 400 kilometers of range between charges. In addition, so that nothing slows down your day to day, now offers fast charging of 100 kW with which you can go from 20% to 80% of the battery level in just 25 minutes.

As a novelty in the range of engines, the new Peugeot 208 Hybrid. Based on the PureTech gasoline engine, Peugeot has integrated 48V hybrid technology that allows to offer two different power levels: 100 hp and 136 hp. Both versions are associated with an electrified dual-clutch gearbox e-DCS6 including an electric motor.

Thanks to a battery that is recharged while driving, this hybrid technology reduces fuel consumption by up to 15%. In addition, they have more torque at low revs and in urban driving can operate more than 50% of the time in electric mode. These new hybrid versions have the ECO environmental label.

The other engines available in the range are two 1.2-liter PureTech gasoline engines. On the one hand, the PureTech 75 engine with 5-speed manual gearbox. On the other hand, the PureTech 100 version combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox. From now on, there will be no diesel versions within the engine range.

More technology and security

Another section in which the Peugeot 208 2023 introduces new features is in technology. The new generation of the Peugeot i-Connect infotainment system and Peugeot i-Connect Advanced offer compatibility with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as TomTom connected navigation. They also include wireless updates and a voice assistant that responds to the command "Ok Peugeot".

Both the Allure and GT versions come standard with three USB-C sockets (two in the front and one in the rear) and one USB-A socket (in the rear). In addition, a 15 W wireless smartphone charger and new parking assistance cameras with high-definition images are now available.

Finally, in the safety and driving assistance section, the following systems stand out:
