MBUX extended functions: the 7 essentials you should know about
Contenido del artículo
The Mercedes MBUX infotainment system features advanced artificial intelligence to make the user experience unbeatable. This technology has been designed to optimize passenger comfort and safety, putting at your fingertips access to all those extended MBUX features you need to know. Here are the 7 essentials you can't miss to get the most out of the Mercedes Benz User Experience.
To put all the extended functions at your fingertips, MBUX features the Linguatronic voice command system. The intelligent assistant Hey Mercedes commands will help you with simple tasks that involve taking your hands off the wheel and your eyes off the road. Through clear and intuitive instructions, the system will recognize the command and activate or deactivate what you want. This improves on-board comfort and increases safety, avoiding distractions while driving.
MBUX 's artificial intelligence learns from your personal tastes and preferences, thus providing you with a better user experience. While the system learns from you, there are a number of extended functions that MBUX offers that can be considered basic or essential. Setting the temperature, making a call or choosing a radio station are just a few of these functions you should know about.
How to activate Linguatronic
The first thing you need to know is how to activate Linguatronic. To activate it you can do it through the steering wheel controls, through the touch screen of the MBUX system or with the touchpad on the center console. To do this, we must access the Settings menu and, there, the System tab. In this submenu appears the Linguatronic section, which we access and activate the voice assistant Hey Mercedes! Do not forget to also activate the function Online Phone Control.
Adjusting the climate control temperature in MBUX
This is perhaps one of the most interesting extended MBUX functions offered by the system. Using voice commands you can regulate the climate control temperature. The system allows you to select a specific temperature by saying, for example, "Set the temperature to 22 degrees".
However, MBUX goes one step further and, thanks to artificial intelligence, can regulate the climate control temperature based on your needs. If we tell it "I'm cold" or "I'm hot", the infotainment system will raise or lower the climate control to reach a more comfortable temperature. In addition, the ambient light will change to red (raise temperature) or blue (lower temperature) to create an even more pleasant feeling in the cabin of your Mercedes.
Changing the interior ambient lighting
The ambient lighting in your Mercedes offers up to 64 different colors to choose from. You can adjust the light tone via the touchscreen of your Mercedes Benz and even access the multi-color options for an even more exclusive atmosphere in the interior.
However, the Hey Mercedes! assistant allows quick and easy access to change the ambient light with a voice command. If we say, "Change the interior light to red (or any other color)," the system takes care of adjusting it automatically.
Make a call with Hey Mercedes!
The integration of the smartphone as part of MBUX is one of the objectives that the engineers followed in the development of the system. You will be able to control almost every function of your cell phone through the Mercedes Benz infotainment system, whether it's listening to and sending messages, organizing your schedule or making phone calls.
In fact, making a call with Hey Mercedes! is very simple and allows you to keep your attention on driving. The intelligent assistant will make the call when you indicate the name of the contact saved in the phonebook. For example, "Call Pedro Gómez", and MBUX will connect your cell phone to make the call through the speakers of the sound system.
Change radio station on MBUX with voice commands
Just as you can adjust the climate control temperature or change the ambient lighting, you can also select a radio station using voice commands. The system can switch from one station to another by simply telling it to do so. Just say "Change to radio station 98.5" and MBUX will tune to that frequency. Also, remember that you can turn the volume up or down by simply telling the system.
Listen to your favorite music
If, on the other hand, you prefer to listen to your favorite music, the voice command "Media" will give you access to it. This function is among the MBUXtricks, and will allow you to switch from the radio to music stored on your cell phone or USB stick quickly and easily. By default, the system activates the USB and, if it doesn't detect any connected device, it automatically switches to your cell phone (provided it is paired to MBUX via Bluetooth). In addition, you will have access to music streaming services directly from your cell phone.
Let the light pass through the panoramic roof
Finally, if your Mercedes is equipped with a panoramic roof or sunroof, you can control it via MBUX. To open or close the electric sunroof curtain, simply say the command "Open sunroof curtain" or "Close sunroof curtain", and the system will execute it automatically. In addition, if you need more light in the interior, with the command "Activate reading light" you can turn on the cabin lights without taking your hands off the steering wheel.
