Berlin's gastronomy, served from a Mercedes-Benz 308 D

Thorsten Pannek managed to unite his two passions in one: to offer a new version of Berlin gastronomy and a Mercedes-Benz 380 D van. Thus was born "Pannek seine Budike" (Pannek seine Budike ), an innovative concept of traditional Berlin food from a food truck.

This Berliner decided to start an innovative business in this classic van where he would create his culinary inventions, but always based on local products and ingredients.

Inimitable enthusiasm for Berlin's gastronomy

In Berlin, there is more to gastronomy than currywurst and kebab. That's why Thorsten created this new concept so that visitors to this German city could enjoy the delicious local produce with reinvented dishes such as the pork knuckle sandwich or the Spreewald pickle sandwich.

"From the beginning until today, I never had any doubts! Of course there have been setbacks; working as an independent entrepreneur you are bound to have some setbacks, but I believe in my concept!" admits Thorsten, who admits that he has been greatly helped by the great support he has received from his friends and family. "The enthusiasm they have for my food and their appreciation for the "pork knuckle truck" encourages me a lot. You understand that all your efforts and all the sweat have been worth it!".

The great reception of these dishes encouraged this Berliner to take his creations further, participating in street food festivals and street food markets, where he aroused considerable interest. "They have brought their simple street food to Germany, enriching it with their passion and national pride. They simply wanted to show how fantastic the flavors of their home countries are - that's why they have blown their guests away! You don't eat because you are hungry. You eat because you want to discover something and embark on an adventure, so to speak."

To start up this business, it was clear to him that he needed a vehicle that would suit his vehicle concept for his foodtruck. That's why he chose this 1992 Mercedes-Benz 308 D that he found in Rostock: "The reason I chose an old vehicle? It's the perfect symbiosis between old 'Berlin gastronomy' and a new way of interpreting it, just like my food."
