Mercedes plug-in hybrids: which models exist in 2021?

Mercedes plug-in hybrids are vehicles halfway between traditional cars and full electrification of the range. They combine the best of two worlds: comprehensive 100% electric mobility and the performance of an internal combustion engine. This is why Mercedes Benz is making great strides in the field of hybrid cars.

The company has already structured a complete range offering up to 14 Mercedes plug-in hybrids in 2021. These models, in turn, are divided into 22 different versions equipped with advanced EQ Power Electric Intelligence technology, a technology designed to improve engine performance, reduce consumption and emissions, and continue to contribute to making Mercedes Benz an increasingly efficient, clean and environmentally friendly brand.

Mercedes plug-in hybrids: tomorrow's technology

Electrification is the technology of tomorrow and Mercedes plug-in hybrids become the immediate solution to mobility restrictions due to pollution protocols in force in large urban centers. In order to reach all driver profiles, Mercedes Benz is continuously expanding its range of EQ Power plug-in hybrid models. In recent years, the company has developed a wide range of hybrid vehicles designed for the cities of tomorrow.

Mercedes plug-in hybrids

Mercedes plug-in hybrids combine the advantages of two worlds. In the city they run on electric propulsion, and on long journeys they benefit from the greater range allowed by the internal combustion engine. They also improve the vehicle's overall efficiency by recovering energy when decelerating, while the combustion engine can always operate in the ideal speed range and load, thus reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

At Mercedes Benz we are also aware of the limitations in the autonomy of electric cars. Hence, our strong commitment to hybridization under the EQ Power label. The 2021 range of Mercedes plug-in hybrids can travel between 46 and more than 100 kilometers on a single charge. When the battery is depleted, recharging times have been optimized so that, depending on the model and type of charger, they are as short as 20 minutes. And all Mercedes plug-in hybrids earn the DGT's Zero Emissions environmental label.
