New Mercedes C-Class All-Terrain 2022: off-road style

The new Mercedes C-Class All-Terrain 2022 is now part of the family of the new Mercedes C-Class. Based on the Estate body of the new C-Class, the All-Terrain variant adds a robust style, higher ground clearance and the effective 4MATIC all-wheel drive system as part of the standard equipment.

As part of the company's strategy to build a range of new Mercedes cars, Mercedes Benz introduces the second All-Terrain version of vehicle portfolio, following the arrival in 2017 of the same concept vehicle based on the E-Class Estate. Now, the new C-Class follows in the same footsteps and introduces a bold, equipped and robust vehicle, ideal for safe getaways off the asphalt or to devour kilometers with maximum comfort that characterizes the brand's products.

The exterior styling of the 2022 Mercedes C All-Terrain features a number of differentiating elements. The radiator grille features a single-slat design, chrome trim and an integrated center star. The grille surrounds sport a high-gloss black finish, while the front bumper features a specific design, with a dark gray plastic portion accented by an aesthetic underbody guard in high-gloss chrome.

The wheel arches, sills and rear bumper of the Mercedes C-Class All-Terrain 2022 look plastic overlays matte dark gray. This coating has been equipped to protect the body from gravel impacts and dust that is raised in off-road driving. The rear bumper also includes an aesthetic protector and is accompanied by a specific protection for the cargo section of the trunk. In addition, there are several exclusive wheel designs ranging from 17" to 19".

The exterior of the new Mercedes Benz SUV is derived from the AVANTGARDE Exterior line. Thus, the waistline strips, window surrounds and longitudinal roof rails feature an exclusive polished aluminum finish. They match perfectly with the B-pillar covers and rear side window sills in high-gloss black. As an option, the Night package can be included, providing extra elements finished in high-gloss black.

Inside the New Mercedes C-Class All-Terrain 2022, you will find a luxurious cabin, equipped with high quality materials and a technological environment. It derives from the AVANTGARDE Interior line and it is possible to choose between three chromatic concepts: black, macchiato beige/black and Sienna brown/black. To this must be added the new generation of the MBUX infotainment system with a double screen on the dashboard.

A highlight of the interior of the latest Mercedes SUV model are the seats with quilted design. These seats provide a high level of comfort and lateral support, accompanied by a multifunction sports steering wheel in black leather with silver application. The cabin is harmonized by a complete ambient lighting system and does not give up space thanks to its 490-liter trunk, expandable up to 1,510 liters thanks to the folding rear seats divided into three elements in a ratio 40:20:40. The trunk compartment is accessed via the standard electric EASY-PACK tailgate.

Engines of the new Mercedes all-terrain vehicle

The initial offer of the Mercedes C-Class All-Terrain 2022 includes two electrified engines, one gasoline and one diesel. The gasoline engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit that develops up to 272 hp and an impressive 400 Nm of torque. The engine is coupled with Mercedes EQ Boost hybrid technology, with an integrated alternator starter that delivers up to an additional 15 kW (20 hp) and 180 Nm, and a 48-volt on-board power supply.

The same configuration features the new-generation turbodiesel engine offered by the C-Class All-Terrain. This 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine can deliver up to 265 hp and 550 Nm of torque. The integrated starter alternator provides additional electric drive, improves fuel economy and reducesCO2 emissions. Both engines are available with the efficient 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission, linked to an advanced 4MATIC all-wheel drive system as standard.

Technology to improve off-road capability

To improve off-road capability, the new Mercedes C-Class All-Terrain 2022 gets 40 mm more ground clearance. In this way, you can overcome obstacles more easily once you enter the adventure on dirt tracks and off-road terrain. At the same time, reinforcements have been implemented in the suspension and have been configured a number of technological systems that improve their ability off the asphalt.

The new C-Class All-Terrain adds two additional driving modes within the DYNAMIC SELECT program. On the one hand, the OFFROAD mode for slightly hilly terrain such as agricultural tracks, gravel roads or sand. The second option is the OFFROAD+ mode with DSR (Downhill Speed Regulation). This setting is recommended for riding in rougher and steeper terrain. The DYNAMIC SELECT program adapts the response of the engine, transmission, steering, ESP and the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.

Another innovative technology is the trailer maneuvering assistant. This system facilitates maneuvering with the vehicle/trailer combination by automatically adjusting the steering angle of the towing vehicle's front wheels up to a speed of 5 km/h and a slope of up to 15%.

In addition, the ESP with trailer stabilization function can intervene in critical situations at speeds above 65 km/h (40 mph). Also available as part of the optional equipment is a semi-electric towing device with tilt ball joint. This device enables the Mercedes C All-Terrain 2022 to offer an impressive towing capacity of up to 1,800 kilograms.

The new driving modes of the DYNAMIC SELECT program, the trailer maneuvering assistant and ESP with trailer stabilization function are combined with the standard 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.
