As the promising "G" in its name suggests, the 4Matic version with all-wheel drive demonstrates a resolute character in adverse conditions. Dynamism is a constant in the behavior of this vehicle, even in the rear-wheel-drive models. The new radiator grille, with two slats instead of the previous three and an imposing star in the center, produces a visual effect more typically associated with the image of sedans. The chrome elements indicate that the GLK adapts to any circumstances, whether urban life or rough terrain. The new headlamps underline its versatile character: modern optical clusters incorporating the latest lighting technologies, from reflection headlamps and bi-xenon elements to light-emitting diode lights.
The restyled version of the GLK exudes serenity. The rear bumper and the more prominent underbody protection visually enhance the width of this compact SUV. The rear light clusters have also been restyled to incorporate LED technology.
A simple glance at the interior is enough to see that it is also convincing in the styling department. Wood or aluminum moldings adorn the instrument panel, whose renewed design gives a clearer and more orderly appearance to the driving position. Four large round diffusers and the three-spoke sports steering wheel also contribute to the feeling of traveling in first gear. In the passenger compartment, new shapes, colors and materials stand out, whose combination, together with the ambient lighting, creates a pleasant and cozy atmosphere.
The list of optional equipment offers other elements: the AMG sports package, designed especially for the GLK. It includes 19-inch alloy wheels and AMG-specific front and rear aprons, as well as other eye-catching extras that enhance the GLK's sporty elegance.
As if by magic, the new Mercedes-Benz infotainment package with USB interface, Bluetooth, audio streaming and MP3-capable CD player is deployed. In addition, the GLK can now be equipped with Internet connection, iPad docking station, TV tuner for digital TV reception and, as an option, navigation with the Comand Online multimedia system and integrated Mercedes-Benz apps, for on-board enjoyment of the benefits of the Internet and a smartphone. Although the first thing for the designers of the new GLK is the safety of its occupants, putting at their disposal the new Mercedes-Benz assistance systems. This is an important cast of invisible helpers: the Attention Assist fatigue warning system, the Pre-Safe preventive protection system, automatic parking aid, lane change detector, blind spot monitoring and - for the first time at Mercedes-Benz - a 360° camera. And as if someone had set out to make wishes come true in a fairy tale, no less than seven different engines are offered for the GLK, six diesel units and one gasoline unit, as powerful as they are fuel-efficient thanks to innovative BlueEfficiency technology. Equipped with the stop-start function, these engines offer sufficient performance for relaxed driving in the city and for the most demanding journeys on the freeway or off-road.
