As part of its long-standing support for the performing arts as an artistic discipline in line with the tastes of its customers, Mercedes-Benz Spain announces the sponsorship of the play "El tipo de la tumba de al lado" by Catarina Mazetti, which will premiere on February 14 at the Teatro Goya in Barcelona, and will then travel to various Spanish cities.

Adapted for the theater from the worldwide best-seller by Swedish writer Catarina Mazetti, "The guy in the tomb next door" was an impressive success with audiences and critics when it premiered in Paris two seasons ago, extending the play's initial run for another year and leading to its release in other European countries to similar acclaim.

The play, starring Maribel Verdú and Antonio Molero and directed by José María Pou, tells the story of two people who are lonely: the young widow Laura, introverted, intellectual and urban, and the clumsy farmer Pablo, rustic, frank and provincial. They meet in the inauspicious setting of a cemetery visiting the graves of their loved ones. A simple smile sparks a spark between them. But everyday reality will burst into their world to highlight all the differences between the two, creating situations as unlikely as funny that make this comedy a true treatise on the social and cultural differences between two human beings.

"This sponsorship is yet another example of Mercedes-Benz Spain's interest in the performing arts and in supporting the best theatrical shows that can be seen in our country," says Enrique Aguirre de Cárcer, PR Director of Mercedes-Benz Spain. The most recent examples of this commitment have been the sponsorship of the latest edition of the Almagro International Classical Theater Festival and the recent agreement signed with the Siglo de Oro Foundation, which includes the sponsorship of premieres and other activities promoted by this institution to disseminate classical theater among today's audiences.
